Firehouse Giving Fund
The Outer Banks Community Foundation is proud to introduce the OBX First Responder Giving Program Fund, a new charitable fund created by David Sawin, co-founder of Firehouse Boil Delivery. The fund provides grants to local first responder agencies for equipment, training, and other needs that support their lifesaving work.
Firehouse Boil Delivery launched in 2020 and quickly became known for its at-home seafood boils and strong community ties. At the heart of the company is a commitment to family and local connections—a value inspired by Sawin’s father, who served more than 30 years as a firefighter. In his honor, the business donates a portion of its proceeds to support area fire departments and first responders.
The OBX First Responder Giving Program Fund has grown beyond the founders’ contributions, thanks to generous donations from Firehouse Boil’s many loyal customers. In 2024–2025, the fund is helping the Colington Volunteer Fire Department raise money for new Jaws of Life hydraulic rescue equipment.
